I'm sure everyone has already thought of doing this.. So what's stopped everyone? I guess the engine is too big? There must be a way to fit it in somewhere.. No?

i dont think that it is the fact that it could be too big (if their putting northstars in fieros, they'll find a way to cram it in there), but that the car isnt designed for it. The tranny probably wouldnt hold up too long, since that engine gives so much torque. So then you would have to add a new transmission. Besides, you probably wouldnt see the huge power benefits over a northstar because it is so heavy.

Im not sure on what year cadillacs you were thinking of, but if you were talking about the older ones (like 60s-early 80s), then it would probably work good since they used huge engines in them anyway.

I was thinking new ones. But old ones would be cool too. I should have thought about that too.. I've heard the transmissions are good for more horsepower.. Has anyone else?

I just hope they start getting some more horsepower to remain in competition with other luxury cars. They're all getting so fast.. I know we hear about 400 horsepower but we haven't seen it yet.. I have my fingers crossed.

im sure they could handle the horsepower, but the torque is what concerns me. 385 ft/lbs, that 85 more than the northstar. Im not sure the trannys are designed for that much torque.

I think it would be great if cadillac made about 5L 12cy. I know their coming out with the XV12, which is a 5.?L V12, with variable valve timing and cylinder shut off (during highway crusing 6 cyls. turn off for fuel economy). I think if they made smaller V8s or v10s, they will keep up with the luxary market.

Ive got a vortec 5.3 in my tahoe, and it is a torque monster (cant burn too much rubber, its too heavy ).

Personally, i dont think its worth it in a new caddy. By the time you spend the time and money on the conversion, you could have more horsepower in the northstar by adding a supercharger, and other mods.

But then again thats just me....

Yeah, all good points.. Hopefully they get some sought of v10 or v12 going soon. It's important nowadays.. A wouldn't expect a company like Hyundai to go and do it. But America's best? You bet I expect the best...
