    code 1406-EGR

I'm getting this code on a number of recent Northstar purchases, and when I remove the EGR valve, it isn't stuck. I'm assuming it sticks on occassion and sets the code. Anything I can do to clean (?) the valve (pindle) to keep from buying a new one?

Harry, see the tutorial in the Tech Tips section. Punch that pintle valve up into the open position. Release is slow and release it fast. Move it in every possible way you can. If it sticks even slightly. Clean it again. I just did my wife's '96 Bonneville with 165K and had to do it several times. Even used a small hook tool to get down inside and scrape out some carbon.
