Limp. Mode help

Remove this ad
Ok I need someone to help me understand something. First off I was reading the other post about limp mode claim that the northstar can run 50 miles on no coolant etc.( I don't know why anyone would want to find out lol) anyways my question is if my engine light is on (I understand how to pull the codes) will that change the performance in the engine making my car perform slower (limp mode) ???

Re: Limp. Mode help

"Camel mode" was designed to get you to a shop if the coolant disappears - as Destroyer posted, it's the final event in a head gasket failure.

"Limp Mode" describes a couple of speed and power limiting tricks in the PCM programming designed to protect the entire drive train from mechanical failure due to, among other things, ignition timing sensor failures, transmission fluid pressure and mechanical failures, and suspension faults which would lead to dangerous operating conditions above XX speeds.
