Hey all,

96 eldo etc. driving along and out of nowhere the car sputters and stalls. She restarts and drives hard. Every time I start her up the same thing. Plugs and wires have been replaced. She was running strong. I'm getting P0300 and P1380 codes....engine misfiring.

Where do I start?

Check the fuel pressure for starters. That's cheap and easy.

Fuel pressure is okay, there is a mild tapping, outside of the engine. I was hoping the codes would give direction. Not this time. Is there a module between fuel lines and the fuel injection?

Re: 96 Eldo engine sputters and stalls. P0300 and P1380 Engine Misfire.

If the misfires began after you replaced the plugs and wires (ACDelco #41-950 plugs and an AC wire set), check your wire hookup against these diagrams. Coil-plug wiring is critical because this is a waste spark system: two plugs fire at the same time. Google "waste spark ignition".

No fuel injector module per se; they're tripped by the PCM signals from the CKP's and CMP and the pulse duration is modified by engine operating conditions such as temperature, throttle opening, MAF, MAP, and load.

If fuel pressure is good, then it must be ignition. Did you do the wires one at a time or yank them all and then replace them. If so, there is a good chance that you misrouted 2. Check them as Sub suggested. If all is well there, then you may have a coil breaking down or a bad ICM.

Not the wires or plugs. they had been changed 6000 miles ago.

When you go back and check your plug wiring according to the posted diagrams, dig deeper and remove each coil from the ICM pack. Check the coil contacts and grounds.
