Northstar Plenum Woes

Remove this ad
Greetings!! I have been reading these forums for some time now, just an amazing community... Anyhow, I have the same cracked plenum issue that a lot of folks seem to run across with my 2001 DTS. I have the parts (The Plenum and replacement intake gaskets) but I am weary of such a project. I have no problems doing anything to my '50 dodge, but these new fangle, non carburated engines frankly scare the bejeezus out of me.. I have searched high and low but I am having trouble finding an actual guide of the repair. Does anyone know of any great tech-tips or step by steps on how to replace this part?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Northstar Plenum Woes

I used All Data and did the job in 45 minutes. I would give it a 2 out of 5 in terms of difficulty. Get yourself the fuel line disconnect tool and be sure you know how to relieve the fuel line pressure. Reinstalling the intake manifold was the toughest part. It is a very tight fit but... does go back in.

Good luck, you will do fine.
