My 99 STS 73K has been perfectly maintained i was second owner purchased w/ 32K and had it 5-1/2 years and even put extended warranty no promblems until overheating started at 64K then i replaced water pump, therm., radiator, and tried stop leak still overheats. took it to 3 places diagnose with internal conbustion leak / blown head gasket. Cadillac wants around $4,000.00 to either replace motor or fix orginal. Even tried to have Cadi pick up the tab but my claim was denied. I want to sell this cadi as is, how much can i get for it right now?on Craigslist? Will not spend another dime on this car. already bought new car what to do? Should i trade-in for winter beater? Leave it down town and hope it gets stolen and collect insurance? Fix it then sell it? and get a crapy price? Any feed back would be great. Thanks |

Sounds as if your aftermarket warranty ran out a bit too soon......If it is in otherwise good condition, some DIY member could obtain a good deal. |

FYI, if you are mechanically inclined you can fix it yourself but it will probably be the longest job you will ever do. |

Usually you have to deduct the cost of repair from the value but on major repairs most people get scared of hidden problems so you often have to deduct even more.
The value in good running condition would seem to be somewhere in the $7000-9000 range. I'd expect you could get $2000-3500 for it. People have gotten them under $1000 but that may reflect other problems.
Advertise it and see if you get any response. You can decide if it's worth fixing it. There was someone in Chicago area doing them as side work for about $2500. If you had someone in Cleveland doing that it would be a no brainer. |

now i can put a nice chunk down on the 06 STS | Well, you got a good price for it, but why after experiencing this flawed design first hand, are you looking to get stung a second time? The "fixes" GM put in place on the newer ones have had little effect on the rate of headgasket failure. |

Shares almost nothing with the old K-body FWD. Never seen a HG problem with a RWD. |
