Since the Northstar is an all aluminum engine, will four bolts where the transmission bolts up support the engine on an engine stand with all of the accessories attached? Also, does anyone happen to know what thread size this is (SAE or metric)? Did GM put inserts/helicoils on all threaded holes on this engine, or only the threads for the heads to bolt up? I’ve seen pictures with Northstars on engine stands, but just want to avoid any stress cracks at the transmission mounting area. Thanks.

There are no inserts on any of the threads holes. They are all threaded into aluminum. If you pull the head bolts, be sure to Timesert http://www.timesert.com/ all 20 bolt holes. DO NOT use helicoils for the head bolts. They won't hold.
I supported an engine w/o accessories on a stand... I was a little nervous about the threads getting screwed up or something too, but I guess it's probably fine. The more weight you can take off, the better. The bolts are metric, I don't remember offhand what they are, but I think they were like 100-120mm long, maybe m12(?). That's what I believe worked with my stand. They were tough to find. I had to notch the stand's arms to clear the coolant crossover...
I've had mine on the stand fully loaded for a month and no problems. I did have to find the bolts at a fastener store...If I remember correctly, the bolts are the same thread and pitch as the cradle to body bolts.
I was surprised to find that there are only three bolts on the bellhousing instead of the usual four. I am mounting the Northstar on the engine stand tonight...12mm 1.75pitch I believe is the thread size. I had to have two of the engine stand arms ground down to clear the coolant crossover, too.

I only see 3 threaded holes around where the bellhousing would bolt up on my Northstar. There are also 2 larger holes for large dowels to line up the trans. Is this fourth threaded hole behind the water crossover or something? I have it on the stand with the crossover still bolted on. I haven't pulled the engine out of the Deville yet, so I don't know how the trans bolts up, by I can only find three 12mm threaded holes on the back of my replacement Northstar? Am I crazy, blind, or other?
