    QuestionNeed a Timesert kit

    Hi All,
does anybody have a Northstar Timesert Kit that I could borrow, or rent, or buy at a good price? new is 370.00.

I can't aford that, dealer wants 340.00 to do one side.

I can get a standard metric kit for about 106.00, but it doesn't have the special tools and plate in the Northstar kit.

I can get the Timeserts for about 5.00 a piece.

    I'm near Jackson, Mississippi

can anybody help? I'll pay for shipping cost.
    thanks
    Ken

Sorry, I must be getting dyslexic. Maybe my very short term memory is getting bad!

    Re: Need a Timesert kit

I looked on Ebay under Timesert, Time sert, Time-sert, and there was nothing, how did you find it? and do you know if there were more?
I did find the Helicoil type.
would you rent it to me? say $50 + shipping, I would only need it for a weekend, and I will buy the inserts I need seperately.
    thanks
    Ken

    Re: Need a Timesert kit

I saw a kit with M11x2.0 , I think this for head bolt holes on a 98-99 Corvette LS1, would using this kit work and just buy new M11x2.0 bolts?
    thanks

    Re: Need a Timesert kit

M11x 2.0 inserts with new M11x 2.0 bolts from the Corvette would fix that,
would anyone have a heartburn about the modification?
    thanks

    Re: Need a Timesert kit

There was an insert set on ebay a few weeks ago that looked longer than the timesert. If there's room in the block then it should be better than the timeserts.

I didn't save the link...maybe somebody else did.

    Re: Need a Timesert kit

I was thinking of buying the kit new, then when done with it, (I'm going to use it only one time), put it on ebay, (new $370), if someone wanted to buy it from me, for a reasonable cost, my true expense would be easier to swallow. (370.00 - 225.00 = true expense of 145.00), any interested?
