    bad smell and smoke

    there is a bad smell which smell of a mix between burnt plastic and coolant coming from under the hood of my 95 ETC. i popped the hood to find some faint smoke or steam rising from the back of the motor, like coming from under the distributor area. what would this be? please help

    My first guess would be a leak in one of the heater hoses. There are two hoses that run from the water pump and intake manifold to your heater core. It is likely that one of them has developed a leak. It's a minor repair but should be done ASAP. Never let a coolant leak go on for very long at all.

    Yes, it would smoke profusely if the leak is in the heater hose from the intake to the heater core as it passes over the right exhaust manifold.

    It is probably easier to look "up" there. If you get the thing in the air, you will be able to see more easily what is leaking from underneath. You'll need a light.
