    Service Brake Fluid Switch

    Hi I just bought a 96 Sedan DeVille and IGot a reading today saying "Service Brake Fluid Switch" and the brake light came on. Is this something I can do myself or am I going to have to go to the dealer. Thanks alot, James

    It's just a float in your master cylinder. Shouldn't be too hard to figure out whats wrong, or to expensive to replace.

    Check the level of fluid in the master cylinder. If it's low fill it. As your disc brakes wear the caliper pistons move out and more of the fluid stays in the caliper. It doesn't necessarily mean you have a leak but you should check the brakes. They may be close to needing replacement or they could be leaking.
