    Case 1/2 seal Question

Bbob or anybody else that knows for sure. I searched but couldn't find the definate answer. Should you use any Timeserts in the block when fixing the 1/2 case seal? Does this joint suffer from the same problems that the head gasket suffers from? I am going to pull the motor and seal the case halfs along with the head gaskets and just want to make sure I am doing this right. Any help is appreciated.

No...there is not nearly the thermal cycling in the case halfs...You shouldn't need to timesert any of those holes at all...

Here is a link to a photo essay of a half case repair, very good stuff.

I think I'm one of the few that has had to timesert the bottom end of the block. As long as the threads don't strip when you tighten them back up then you don't need to timesert.
