My 02 sls has a slight wobble on the crankshaft pulley at idle. How do I go about fixing this?
----------
From my reading I'm seeing the rubber on the harmonic balancer has worn out. Dies this sound right and how bad is this? It's a very small deviation from true straight and there are no adverse effects from it. I just noticed it today as I was looking at the belt.
Yes, the harmonic balancer will need to be replaced eventually, because that slight wobble will get worse as time goes on. I had to replace mine which was getting worse fairly quickly. The last thing that you want is for this wobble to be the cause of your serpentine belt to be thrown completely off the pulleys. Don't ask me how I know.
Correct, although it is not a harmonic balancer as they are internally balanced...it is a crankshaft dampener, but Ranger is correct. Common issue on all GM engines. Inexpensive to replace,
Your not alone. For years and years most were externally balanced.
