    Oil Question

I have an oil question. My 99 seville STS tells me to check oil level so I checked it and it looks like there is hardly any oil in the car. My display said oil life 10%. My question is should the oil level be that low where I probably need to add 5 quarts or is that how the northstar engine works. also does anyone know the average price for an oil cahnge at the cadillac dealer.

    Re: Oil Question

The northstar is known for using oil. You should check the oil every 1000 miles. You should never let the oil get that low, it could cause serious damage to your engine. An oil change at a dealer is probably around $35.

    Re: Oil Question

The "Check Oil Level" message comes on at 2 or 2 1/2 qts. low. I forget exactly. You have plenty of oil left in the engine when the message comes on. Since you are at only 10% oil life remaining I would just do an oil change now rather than add 2 qts.
