    00 DTS - Starting issue

I don't know if this is "just me" or what.. But since I've had this car (about a week), I've turned the key and had the car either stall or not start all the way, three times. It's as if I'm not holding the key in the 'start' position long enough. If I'm not mistaken, this happened to me a few times with my 95 Eldorado Touring Coupe as well, when I first got it - BUT - I could be wrong.. Does this happen to anyone else - or did it happen when you first got your Northstar Cadillac (not saying that this is a Northstar issue, just a 'newer' car issue). Maybe I'm just used to older cars since my last two have been an 87 Vette and a 95 Fleetwood (non-Northstar)...

That thread is on crank sensors, not cam sensors.

On the 2000 year cars, bbob has recommended that the crank position sensors be changed out with new ones, which have been redesigned. Sal, have you looked for codes? I would just do the crank position sensors because they're a known problem. After that, I would start looking at the FPR.

Re: 00 DTS - Starting issue

sorry didnt know the northstar was quadruple redundant when it came to knowing where the no 1 piston was ....figured i could say "cam sensor" and id be ok ....apprently it has 2 of each .....werid ....youd think if the cams were not variable that the computer could figure out where the cams were relative to the crank ...but then again why doe sit care where the cams are ? should it just be concerend with one of them to determine spark timing ?

NOTE THIS DOESNT APPLY TO Varible Valve Timing!! i know why in that case
