    northstar motor swap

i am unfarmiliar with the cadillac and the northstar engine. i've swapped motors before and am around cars and motors and things like that everyday. basically im wondering what kind of a job is it to swap northstar engines? the car in question is a 1993 cadillac eldorado with a blown motor. i have located another 93 motor with 81k on it. is there any major things for me to learn before attempting this? any info would help. thanks

if you are just swapping a bad motor for a good one, and not touching the new one.... it shoudl be just like any another car.. the best ways seems to be to jack the car up and drop the whole cradle.... while all that is removed, I would get the transmission rebuilt... just so you don't have to go thru the joy of dropping the cradle again in the future...

    Re: northstar motor swap

If you've done engine swaps before, it's fairly straightforward. This was my second engine-drop, the first on a car newer than 1990 Took me about 2 hours from start to finish, but I had the benefit of not having to put it together again, so I could cut hoses and brake lines

One thing to note (that took me a while to find) - the body to engine harness connector is at the driver's side strut tower. It just disconnects with a hex driver... It was a real PITA trying to figure out how to disconnect those wires! Then I saw that "wierd black box with a bolt through it"
