Re: Engine randomly stalls when it rains and ran into another problem

So far I couldn't get it to stall like before, but I did receive a P0300 with a check engine light when I started the car yesterday. It was fairly cold and it ran kinda rough for a few minutes and it was fine after that. Cleared the code and it didn't come back the next morning. Think this has anything to do with my problem? I know my spark plug wires are a few years old and it is NOT ac delco, it was from Autozone I think, can't remember.

I don't remember the brand, I just remember it's blue and it's the premium brand from Autozone I think. I want to say it's at least 50,000 miles old, could be more.

I finally caught the car in the act and recorded a few of the engine stalls. I parked my car for two days in the snow/rain. Check it out

    Top brand from Autozone? Blue?

I'm going to say that's your issue. Replace the Autozones with AC-Delcos, 91-450s. For some reason Northstar V8s do NOT like anything else than Delcos.

Re: Engine randomly stalls when it rains and ran into another problem

damn I just typed a bunch of stuff and forgot to hit reply before closing the browser

I want to say the plug wires are fine because I don't see any rot spots or cuts and it did not change anything when I sprayed water on the wires. I haven't measured the impedance though. I do want to check all the grounds, I've cleaned the one behind the passenger headlight and I'm going to replace the ground wire going from the battery to the engine block. Can someone tell me if there are more grounds in the engine bay?

I do want to say that I've found a nest under my car above a pan once (forgot the technical term), not sure what type of animal it was but they could have chewed on something.

    Hi Weister42,
I think your random stall problem is as Sub and Vernon/Manic Mechanic have said. Replace both upper and lower CKP sensors and very carefully check the harnesses which lead to them. Consider replacing your oil pressure sending switch/unit at the same time since you'll have the Oil Filter adapter off of the side of the block - to get to the 2 ckp sensors and their harness.
Send me a direct mail and I'll email you my write up on how I did mine. It has photos and could help send you in the write direction. ( You don't necessarily need a lift if you can ensure that the elevation needed to get under car is secure and safe.
    Best regards,
    MSH
