    Engine swap question

I have an 01 dts vin 9 that needs a engine and trans and was wondering if a 00 deville vin y would work? i would like to buy the 00 and switch the complete engine, trans, cradle etc. Is the only difference the horsepower rating?and maybe exhaust manifolds? Is the harness the same with the different speedo clusters? Thanks for you help. Ike.

    Re: Engine swap question

Different intake cams, different final drive ratio and difference PCM. Swap it all and you essentially have a base Deville/DHS drivetrain.

    Re: Engine swap question

where do you find cars with both bad motor and trans? seller always says 1 or the other is ok. hard to check trans performance with non-running motor.
