    Supercharger for the N*

I know that is designed for sand mobiles and such, but I figure if it works there, it would work in an actual Caddy, that is after you work out the fact of getting it under the hood. Maybe someone could explain the key difference here that would prevent it from being used in the car. Obviously this sort of application would be better for the 05 STS, being as it's RWD or AWD, but still it'd be fun to mess around with at the higher speeds where you aren't gonna slide around so much w/ the FWD Caddies.

Damn, there's no way that blower would clear the hood of ANY STS! The other supercharger project was better suited for production Cadillacs. That one is for a hot rod!

Heh, you got that right, thust my mentioning the fact that stuffing it in would be an issue, but other than that, I'm just wondering what the differences would be between using it in a Dune Buggy and a car. Although, it would be kind of fun to run around with the hood off for a day and pull up next to a C5 or C6 and be like "Hey, wanna race?", and hope like hell that Vette didn't come close to lingenfelter.

Althought, a STS with a big hood scoop would look pretty cool! Hmmm, does that fit a 2000 STS?

For starters that blower is way too high to fit (as others mentioned). One of the difficulties with northstar may be that the starter (I believe) is in the valley, which may prevent you from nestling the blower down in there as deep. Anyway, as for the major differences between using it in a dune buggy and in a car, I see them as follows:

    1. Hood clearance, obviously

    2. In the car there are a lot more accessories, so routing the belts would be a more significant problem.

    3. The biggest problem would be interfacing with the car's engine management. You would have to convince the car's computer to adjust the fuel and spark to accomodate the boost, but this is seldom easy. In the dune buggy they would be using a complete stand alone system which can easily be programmed. The car's computer would be much less flexible in this regard.

Of course all these things can be solved but it's a heck of a lot of work. A while back I wanted to try to convince a company to make a supercharger for northstar cadillacs. I started a thread about it here, but the enthusiasm for it was so limited that there was little chance that anyone could turn much of a profit on it. So with no demand it's unlikely that anyone will go through all the trouble involved in making a supercharger kit for these cars.

I am really digging the chrome north* accessories on that mech-tech site. How can I convince my wife I need these?

Custom Hood would be easy enough to do. Routing accessory belts isnt too bad overall. Building the tranny to not explode with that much power, pricey and difficult, but possible. Getting that to work with the OBD2 engine management, start praying. I'm suddenly very glad for my Fleetwood with the LT1 now.
