    looking to buy a Caddy

    I'm looking at either a Eldo or Seville. I want the Northstar engine. what year do the head gasket problems stop. I'm presently looking at a 2001 Seville.

    They don't stop. They are all susceptible. The 97-99 were just the worst. In 00 they changed it so it's supposed to be sturdier but its still an issue.

    If you go back to the Northstar Performance page (1 back), at the top there is a sticky that says "Head Gasket Failure, Let us Know". Click that on the main page you can see the poll results for each year.

    You have two options if youre worried about head gaskets. An EARLY model
    Eldo like 92-93 with a 4.9 or an 05+STS......
