    problem with map sensors

Hello, I am going through map sensors about every 4 months on my 1994 eldo.
I just put one in yesterday and noticed everything in the intake/valley pan area is covered in oil, the map sensor was also covered in oil. Is this oil causing the map sensor failure and if it is, what could be causing the oil in the valley area?
    Thanks

Not sure if that is causing the MAP failure, but that would be my guess. The oily residue is normal. It is a combination of crankcase gases from the PCV valve and exhaust gases from the EGR valve.

    Re: problem with map sensors

OK Thanks! I was looking at the map sensor I took out, inside the tube there is a shiny area, it looks like about 1/4 of the shiny area is covered with dirt. could that be causing and intermittent MAP sensor problem?

Not sure, but certainly possible. Can't hurt to clean it.
