    Transaxle interchange

Are the '95 and '96 transaxles interchangable? I've got a salvage yard in need of a '95; I've got a nice '96 sitting on the floor. They say the '95 is a 'one year only' tranny. I think it'll work.
If there IS a difference; what is it.

I looked up the complete trans assembly and show a difference between the 95 and 96. There's also a difference between the vin "9" and "Y".

So what IS the difference? OB2? I'm not sure what the difference between 'Y' and '9' engines would have to do with the tranny.

the vin Y has a 3.11 drive ratio and the vin 9 has 3.71. 95 is Y and 96 is 9. i've been there and it sucks just keep searching for a 95

Not sure, all I know is that they are the same 96-99, but 95 is different.

95 STS should work if its a vin "9", not SLS though.

Edit - the trans shows to be Eldo, Seville 95 only. So i don't think a Deville would work, but I'm not sure.
Do we know if we are dealing with a vin "Y" or "9"?
