    Find the oil leak

Have a 99 SLS with 112,000 miles. So far no head gasket problem but I do have my fingers crossed. Recently though I notice a burnt oil smell when I idle or go slow. I have looked underneath and can,t find the leak. Its not real big yet but would like to see what I can do with it. For those of you that have had leaks, where do most of them come from? Remember I am dripping onto the exhaust somewhere. Is there an easy way to discover the source of the leak besides dropping the cradle? Thanks

    Re: Find the oil leak

That would prob. be your halfcase my friend, and to get to it you must pull the motor (out the top or out the bottom which ever you want) seperate the trans. from the motor, pull off the oil pan, remove some stuff up in there and unbolt the halfcase.

I would wait until your head gaskets go and do the case then.

    Hope I helped.

Besides half case about the only other common oil leak is the pan gasket. Check the bolt torque.
