Northstar Engines and System Technical Discussion Discussion, 300hp N* to a Base N* in Cadillac Engine Technical Discussion; WIll a base northstar work in a DTS with the HO northstar?
I found a pretty good deal on another ...
Will it bolt in
will you have some other issues like it not running properly due to the variance in cams
if you get the DTS and put the base motor in with the DTS heads then youll be just fine but keep in mine then you pretty much doing headgaket repair

Re: 300hp N* to a Base N*
C&C, STS2003 has a couple of good points, and quite frankly I have no experience swapping a 2000 4.6 with a 2005. From reading CF threads concerning different years/models, the install you're contemplating could be done, but there will be some mechanical and electrical/electronic hoops to jump through. There were camshaft and engine controls changes over those 5 years. It doesn't appear to be a bolt-in, and may present some problems to be worked out. My .02 . (Best bet? Go to a closer year motor/transmission, if possible.....01 or 02.)
