    Re: Hey Guys

Mix a good Scotch and water and start looking for a clean, late '02 or '03 STS in White Diamond, Crimson Pearl, or a Silver. Make sure it has the later chrome 17" wheels (235/55/17's) and F55 Magnetic Ride Control. Scary fast, bolted to the road (not a Cadillac cushion ride by a long shot), and drop a CORSA exhaust on it. 20 mpg suburban/rural, 24-25 loaded highway. 87 octane recommended.... Happy camper.

Try to go 2000 or newer. New motor design with fewer reports of HG problems.

    Re: Hey Guys

I just ended up getting a 2000 Seville. Picking it up today and I've never been so excited about anything in my entire life. However, I've spent the last year and half looking for the right one.

It takes time. A clean example with under 100k is a dime a dozen. I looked at 2 or 3 cars that I came close to getting but in the end decided against. The Seville SLS is much more common than the Seville STS is. To be honest, I couldn't tell the difference between an '00 SLS and '00 STS. However, with the Magnaride suspension there is quite a bit of difference. As stated above, don't go lower than 2000. The early N* was riddled with a few problems, and from what I've seen the 2000+ is a more reliable engine. Make sure the coolant has been flushed on these cars already (twice for a 2000-2002 and once for a 2003-2004). It is critical for the N*; if not done, you'll experience the lovely headgasket problem.

If you've done your research (I'm sure you know most this stuff since you already had a N*) then you should be fine. Good luck and please post pics when you get your STS!

There was no STS in 2004, only an SLS. So no mag ride in 2004.

    Re: Hey Guys

The last Sevilles bucked in December, 2003. STS (Seville Touring Sedan) stopped at the "2004" model year turnover, probably sometime in August, 2003.

Which begs a question: If the Seville Luxury and Touring Sedans were discontinued in 2003, what does "STS" stand for from 2004 on ???? Similar Touring Sedan ?? Lexus(Toyota) XK-R245D3-K40 STS (mod.1) ??

    Re: Hey Guys

People originally thought they were like this:

    Deville Touring Sedan = DTS
    Catera Touring Sedan = CTS
    Seville Touring Sedan = STS

    However, it's something like this:

    D-Series Touring Sedan
    C-Series Touring Sedan
    S-Series Touring Sedan

I'm not sure if that's right. It could be D-Class, C-Class, etc. I'm sure somebody knows more so than I do.

    Re: Hey Guys

There may not be an "official" translation from GM. When they decided to walk away from model names I think they stuck with letter derivatives that would allow us befuddled consumers to translate from the old model line to the new line, i.e. Deville became DTS etc. <- (or not etc after 2002...) The marketers at GM don't care how you translate it as long as you buy one and drive one.
