    Northstar motor install

    Hi,

I have a 98 deville I had to replace the motor that part was easy here's the problem, I can get my car to turn over but it will not stay cranked. The anti theft system shuts the car done. How do I reset this anti theft system? Its weird because if I spray ether on the carborator the engine will start but as soon as I stop spraying the ether the car shuts off. So is there something not talking to the other.

    Help!Help!Help!

Start by pulling the DTC's. The anti theft system is shutting down the injectors. There is no carburetor. It is a throttle body (TB).

Excessive use of starting fluid (ether spray) will wash the lubrication off the cylinder walls and valve guides. Be careful.

Check the fuel pressure. You might have a problem there. It could be wiring or the pump may have failed.

The "sticky" in the Tech Tips section will tell you how to clear them.

    Re: Northstar motor install

Can anyone help me? The following codes come up when I pulled my DCT's but I do not quite understand how to reset them. I have the following codes

    PZM U1255, PZMB2719, IPCB2750, IPCU1255, TCSU1255, TCSC1276, ACMU1255, RFAU1255, MMMU1016

It appears there is a loss of communication. Is this because I changed the motor, why does the car turn over but will not stay running?

    Help!

    Re: Northstar motor install

You can clear codes by discoing the battery or from the dash (on a caddy) but if they immediately return it means the problem is still there. You cannot "turn them off" if there is a problem.

    Did you check fuel pressure??????????????????????

Starting with spray, but not running, usually indicates no fuel pressure or no injector pulse. Please check that. There is a Schrader valve on the fuel line at the intake, check there.

Are you using the original PCM that came in the car, or did you change it to one that came with the engine? What other changes have you made? New key perhaps?
