    Question what is wrong my engine or converter

    i recently changed 3 injectors on my 1994 cadillac eldorado. cadillac told me that the three i replaced were 4.9 injectors. i replaced them. my cadillac converter was smoking fuel fumes out of the exhaust real bad. it did it once or twice a day. cadillac told me that fuel was leaking into my cadillac converter and it had to burn off that it why my car was smoking fuel fumes. i started my car up and my intake manifold blew off of my car. i hooked everything back up correctly. i did it again i replaced the fuel rail and injectors and i started it and it blew off again and had fire in the manifold again. could it be that my converter was burned pretty bad from all the times that the fuel fumes was coming out of my exhaust. the exhaust might be closed off and the pressure from trying to start the car blew the pressure back in my manifold.

    If you had any unburned fuel entering the exhaust while the engine was at temp, your converter probably overheated, melted, and solidified into a solid brick.

    A clogged catalytic converter is a possibility.

    Spray a little WD-40 on the threads of the two bolts that attach the converter to the exhaust pipe. Remove the bolts and with a light look in the converter. It should look very light tan in color and like a honeycomb with very small openings. If it is blocked, you can try scrapping the honeycomb with a large screwdriver to remove surface blockage, then vacuum loose debis out. If it is badly blocked don't fool with it; replace it.
