My Northstar adventure is finally over...

Months back I posted on a 99' Eldorado which had bad gaskets at 83k miles, and a knock in the engine. Well I stored the car this Winter and had a garage here in Mass. put in an engine from a salvage yard. They found one which looked great out of a 97' and installed it. There was another motor with lower miles on it but the compression in 2 of the cylinders was suspect.
So far so good, the car runs great, and I bought it with a 2 year complete warranty on the motor including head gaskets. It wasn't cheap, but the car is in fantastic shape otherwise. And the noise in the motor was a cracked flywheel, so they put the one off the other engine on, and voila it's nice and quiet. I think a flywheel itself would have probably been almost $1500.00
to replace, so all in all not too bad. They found a couple of cracks in the radiator side tanks also, so I got a new radiator for the cost of just the radiator. I'm guessing it's pretty easy to do with no motor in the car.
I recommend these guys. I found them through this Forum, and they are very
easy to work with. If you're in Mass. they seem so far like the guys to go to
I'm so happy my Baby is back and running again.......

    Thanks for listening,
    Mark

    Hi,
They are called Macs Auto in Leicester Mass.
    Which is pronounced ,LESTER.
The guy I dealt with's name is Al. Believe me I'm kind of a fanatic about my
cars, and I felt I was treated fairly. I wouldn't have driven over an hour to
get to them if I didn't feel they were that good.

It's early in the game, but so far the car runs great !!!!!

    Good Luck,
    Mark

Glad to hear everything worked out for you Mark. I felt for you man, I looked over your Eldo when it was there, and damn that's a clean car you have there. Must have made it that much harder on you. Keep us updated, I want to hear about it running strong.

I live in Spencer myself, nice to know there are some people close by.

Haha, Yah, I'm pretty sure they couldn't put any more decals on those cars if they tried. I've driven the taurus and escort wagon myself...that escort is badass let me tell you. You use them Dooman?
