Hello Yaemish. I posted the below questions on the Audio, Video, and Security Systems section of the Cadillac Forums Site, under the thread title "My 2002 Seville XM Direct Wiring Guide." I never did receive a clear response to these questions from other posters and was hoping you could provide some insight as
http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/images/editor/separator.gifyou seem to be somewhat of an authority on the subject.
Not sure if my site e-mail is included in this message (opalchap@yahoo.com is my main address).
New to the site as I recently purchased an 02 SLS. Been reading all of these posts, including the separate install thread from Yaemish (which is very informative). Before I buy the SIR-GM1 and harness adapter and attempt to begin the install, I have a few questions that hopefully someone more knowledgeable than I will be kind enough to answer:
1) My 02 SLS stock radio has the AM/FM/WX bands. I am unable to get the "no satellite radio" message--when I push the 'PTY' button, nothing happens. Does this mean my stock radio did not come sat-ready? My owner's manual references XM, although with the discalimer "If Equipped." (Edmunds says provisions for sat radio for SLS/STS were made late in 2002 and my vehicle was produced Dec 01.)
Assuming my SLS is sat-ready:
2) I have a CD changer. To confirm, must the CD changer be permanently removed in order to install the SIR-GM1 and harness adapter?
3) I have an existing Sirius subscription. What are the logistics of transferring the subscription from my old unit (Sportster 4) to this 'new' one? Does the SIR-GM1 come with its own unit number that must be provided to Sirius in order to activate service? (I believe the subscription is specific to the unit?)
4) If install is successful, is radio capable of displaying artist, song title, information?
Any information is much appreciated.
