    84 4.1 Eldo

    Hi
    I have a 84 Eldo 4.1
    Has a hesitation under load especially when it warms up .during driving Then stalls out . Idle is good .
    When I step on the brake , and press the accelerator it hesitates , and usually stalls .
    I just replaced the fuel pump , and plugs . I did not replace the Wires , distributor cap [ seem ] OK .
    New Cat converter also . 200 km on the engine .
    Car sat for some time , and i am now driving...
    Ignition Module , plugged IAC ?
    Please advise what the fix could / should be
    Thanks , Ken

    Re: 84 4.1 Eldo

    12= no tach signal (distributor)

    38= open MAT sensor circuit

    53= distributor signal interrupt

    33= MAP/barometer sensor correlation

    You mentioned fiddling with the distributor, I'd start there as two of your codes are centered there. If all this started after you worked on the car, you could have re-assembled someting wrong or knocked off a wire somewhere... check it out.

    If no luck, I'll look at my Factory service Manual and see what I can come up with...pressed for time at this moment....

    Re: 84 4.1 Eldo

    Hi , AND THANKS
    I have 3 codes now .
    12 , 38 , and 52
    For 52 , i just replaced the battery
    on code 12 , No Distributor TACH signal ..
    Is Tach short for Tachometer ??

    Also could the ignition module be an issue , or bad coil?
    Thanks for the help !!, Ken

    I'd take a look at the Manifold Air Tempertature sensor (on top of engine under air filter housing) Both the MAT sensor and Cooant temperature sensors have inferior connector designs that decompose over time. Its possible that the connector has turned to mush and the wires are shorting.

    If the connector looks OK I'd replace the sensor.
