    Dirt in coolant? w/pic 4.5L

I'm trying to figure out what this is, if it's something serious or if I just need a total flush of my coolant system. So I noticed sludge in my overflow reservoir, there was a lot. I took it out and cleaned it all up real nice, put it back in the car filled the reservoir with some new coolant ran the car for about 10 mins opened the cap and saw this, (see pic.) I'll get paid and have it flushed out completely on the first, but what do you guys think? I thought it might have been oil but did not have that "oil on water" look. Could it just be from the bars leak I put in there about 10k miles ago, seemed good and clean before I put in the bars leak. Note, I'm having issues loading this picture, I'm on my phone, I'll upload it here shortly.

FYI when I put in the bars leak I couldn't find the tabs anywhere, this is what I put in, I remember when I put it in it was dark in color and sludgy as well, but why would it go into my overfill and accumulate, doesn't make sense to me anyways. (I put it in the Radiator) 36D350_AS01.JPG

Hard to tell what the debris is in the first pic, but regardless, you need a flush now anyway, to get that liquid aluminum crap out of there. Check for deteriorating hoses while the system is empty.

Yeah I was hoping that would substitute for the Bars leak golden seal or the Cadillac sealant tabs, probably not tho huh? lol I don't have the tools or resources to flush this myself, literally all my tools are in storage and there's not a water spicket where I live, so how much should I expect to pay to get a flush done?

Probably ~1 hours labor, plus coolant and whatever is used to flush the system.

That's weird. It looks like something that's not mixing with the coolant like what happens when you try to put oil and water together.

Oh no. That' Aluminum stuff is not good. Use only Bar's leaks Golden seal which is ground ginger roots mostly. I would not worry about the mess in your coolant. It is most likely bar leaks. Just flush it and refill with fresh coolant and correct bar leaks product. They have it in Wal-Mart for a bit more than a buck per tube. Put the powder into the radiator neck, not into the reservoir.
