Ping is the EGR being disconnected. Lack of power at hi speeds is either a restricted fuel filter or a plugged exhaust (cat. converter) Replace the fuel filter 1st then report back. There is a rare chance its the fuel filter in the tank attached to the fuel sender called a sock filter, but it is self cleaning normally. My 84 quit at 65 MPH and it was a burnt up fuel pump in the fuel tank caused by a very, very dirty restricted sock filter.
