Put a fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail and tape it to the windshield where you can see it
while you are driveing. If it starts fluctuateing when it starts skipping, it may be your sign.

    Re: Ignition module failing?

On second thought, if no codes are being thrown and fuel pressure tests ok, I would start with the basics and replace the wires if you haven't already done so.

Wires can often test fine and look ok even after careful inspection, but the connectors inside the boots can wear out over time resulting in poor contact.

Thank you. Wires are definitely in my list. Not sure how fuel pressure is related to the temperature of the engine in idle.

The really simple things like a blocked cat are often overlooked.

My cat is bad (rattles), but I had had rough idle before it started rattling. Does a bad cat get worse when engine is hot?

It's usually prolonged misfiring that leads to a rattling cat. Unburned fuel gets dumped into the cat, causing the ceramic honeycomb to overheat and crack.

Cars can run fine with a rattling cat, but it sure makes your ride sound like crap.

When I had a partially blocked cat I had a discernible loss of power constant stalling and rough idle, not really sure how you test a cat, mabye someone with more knowledge could chime in.
