    leaky rear main oil seal

Anyone ever used the stuff to help a leaking oil seal? I've seen it at auto parts stores. It supposedly "swells the rubber seals" () My rear main seal is leaking quite a bit, and being a FWD, it's not an option to pull the engine right now. ( had it out twice in the past).
Next time it's out, a crank and bearing kit will go in it.

I have used Lucas products with some success. That was for a steering box that was leaking. Alcohol will swell seals a bit, don't know how it would work in a crankcase however.

Thanks I'll ask around about the Lucas stuff, or better yet, just try some.

Today I replaced the ignition switch, and the lock cylinder in the tilt/telescoping steering column. That was interesting. Good thing I have all the manuals........

I feel your pain Steelybill, I had to rebuild the column in my 90 Deville 2 times. The local thieves don't seem to know about the pass key system. Dosn't stop them from doing a lot of damage trying to peel the column attempting to steal the car. Those columns are a piece of work alright, 100 pieices, 4 subsections, lots of fun!

My rear main seal has been leaking for 2 years now i just have to add a quart ever 1000 miles. As far as Lucas oil stabilizer and stop leak dont bother its a waist of money.
