fuel pump location (84 4100)

does anybody know if the fuel pump is located near the timing chain or elsewhere on a 1984 4100??

i'd like to know before i start tomorrow so i'll have a slight headstart.... :coolgleam

Try looking inside the fuel tank. The TBI system uses and electric fuel pump that is located on the sending unit inside the fuel tank. You have to drop the tank and remove the sending unit to access the fuel pump.

an 84' 4100 is TB fuel injected. it will be in the gas tank.

damn, i knew it..... just asking because my friend told me that it should be on either side of the engine, or next to the timing chain housing.....

****... well, what is everything i need to disconnect to drop the tank??

all i know is the three hoses leading to the tank, and the two straps holding it up...

is there anything else?????

just don't smoke any ciggarettes while near the tank

anyways, there are wires and such leading to the pump, as well as the fuel lines. there should be enough slack in the lines to drop the tank enough to disconnect those lines. im not too sure about what kind of car you have (you did'nt specify), but check and see if there will be exhaust plumbing that needs to be removed. good luck, illuminaP

its on an 84 coupe deville.. the exhaust is already off the car, so it should only be the lines and some wire??

now the only bitch is going to be getting all that gas out of the tank...

a straw will be helpfull

really, you can get a syphoning kit from the local auto store for like 15 bucks.

to answer the question, yes. and there are also the tank straps. once you're under there, you will see it is quite easy to do.
