    Ground Locations?

Where are all the grounds located on the 86-91 Sevilles / Eldo's?

One is the flat braided line at the rear alt pivot but where does it go from there?

    Re: Ground Locations?

The factory manuals have all the grounds listed and diagrammed, and there are a lot of them. They are under the dash near the door posts, behind the rear seat back-rest etc as well as in the engine compartment. Near the battery tray there are some also, at least on mine.

    Re: Ground Locations?

I thumbed through the manual and didnt find them all in one place. They seem to be scattered about in areas that pertain to specific grounds.

Behind the passenger side head light. On the engine block next to the starter (8 x 1.25 mm stud).

These grounds get corroded because of close proximity of the battery. Clean them up with a wirebrush.

    Re: Ground Locations?

Funny there is no direct wire from the alt case to the negative batt terminal. The braided wire goes from alt to block( about 12"), and then down by the starter it goes 4gauge from block to batt.

    Re: Ground Locations?

My '85 has a ground on the left fender well, on a bracket that's made for it, just behind the jump-start box. It was not-so-good shape when I bought the car, and I replaced the bolt and nuts with stainless hardware. Grounds can sure cause a lot of problems when they get crappy.
