Re: Could bad motor mounts cause stumbling on light acceleration

"stumbling" is usually a misfire. No way will a bad motor mount cause that.

Re: Could bad motor mounts cause stumbling on light acceleration

Yes, if you are using 93 and are still pinging then you have a timing problem.

So just adjust the ignition timing?

Re: Could bad motor mounts cause stumbling on light acceleration

Mike, did you buy an FSM for the DeVille? Read/follow the procedure for setting the initial timing. Once the initial timing is set correctly, the computer takes care of timing.

Re: Could bad motor mounts cause stumbling on light acceleration

Should adjusting the timing do the job and fix the stumbling??

If it is off and is what is causing it, then yes.

Re: Could bad motor mounts cause stumbling on light acceleration

Mike, buy an FSM. Then follow the diagnostic trouble tree for light stumble on acceleration. We all know you have been throwing parts at the car for some time. If you are doing all of this work yourself, HELP yourself with a FSM. If you are paying someone to do all of this work for you, then find another tech to do it. The one you are using is ripping you a new one. Once you get the off idle stumble figured out(or at least you think you have by installing a new pcm and motor mounts. Man, my caddy idles so smooth now!) let us know about how clean your transmission fluid is. Then tell us how you hope it will last another 800K miles if you maintain it.

Re: Could bad motor mounts cause stumbling on light acceleration

"ok ill buy one because i do do a lot of my own work" (Oct 25 Pick Up Coil ??)

Above is your answer to the advice of buying an FSM for your DIY work.
I asked you Monday if you did buy one, and received no answer.
