| Re: Error code 34 on 83 deville The MAP sensor is inside the car above the ECM. Rarely fails, but the long plastic pipe from the rear of the throttle body to it can be kinked, broken or the MAP port in the throttle body can be restricted, plugged up from years of carbon. Codes rarely if ever, tell you what to replace. They are to narrow down the search in that sub system only. Is the code a hard code, meaning it displays 3 times on the climate control head? If it displays only 2 or 1 times then its a soft (meaning intermittant) code and should be erased and the car driven to see if it returns first. If its a hard code then visually inspect the pipe I speak of first. I've seen that hose droop and collect moisture ( water) which can cause a MAP sensor failure. On my ELDO, that pipe is attached to a fender brace to keep it from drooping as it passes thru the firewall to the sensor.
