An analog temp guage is cheap and easy to install, plus you can monitor the temp while driving. When my cooling fan relay failed, I would have overheated my engine if it werent for that guage. Its cheap insurance... same goes for an oil pressure guage.

Re: Operating temp: Whats the norm?

Ok, I changed the thermostat today and the car now runs between 196 and 203 on the highway, with the heat off. Once the engine hits 222, the fans come on and the coolant temp drops to the low 200's. The old thermostat was also a 195, so it must have been stuck open.

Good to go....................!

Sevillian, that's an old trick, done it myself for both water and oil, but some of the later Seville/Deville owners don't have much in the way of hosing to cut into..........
