timing marks

hey dose any one know what the timing marks on the water pump are i know ive sew them before but cant seem to remember what they are nor can i fand any info on them .

The plate has long lines (marks) and short lines(marks) between. Farthest to the right is 0 BTDC. Each long line(the points) are 4dg apart and the short lines in between those are 2dg. So the long marks are 0,4,8,12,16,20dg BTDC and the short marks between are 2dg from those. Hope that makes sense.....

is that right or do i have then backwards and with these can the timing be set with a normal timing light that dose not have an advance on it

Every mark is 2dg, both long/short marks. You can set base-timing using a timing light and A/B jumpered on the ALDL. Clean the timing-plate above the balancer so you can read the degree marks. Mark the timing notch on the balancer.
