HT4100 4.1, 4.5, 4.9 Discussion, Need trouble codes for '83 HT-4100 Eldo in Cadillac Engine Technical Discussion; Hello,
Thanks for the help in resetting the codes after an alternator change. Would love to know however, what codes ...
Make sure your O2 sensor is connected properly. If it is, you probably need a new one. This should correct codes 13 & 44. If you still get a code 13 with the new sensor, there is likely a wiring problem in the O2 sensor circuit.
The 52 just means the battery was disconnected since the last code reset.

What nobody mentions is there can be "history" or "current" codes. As you scroll thru on board diagnostics you need to mention if the codes display twice or 3 times. ( 3 code displays mean they're current) History codes usually need to be erased and current codes investigated. If you have no service soon or service now lights on and you have codes that you can read, they're history! Code 52 is set every time the car is smogged. To verify base timing the distributor must be unplugged from the computer. That sets code 52. Once smogged, you erase the false code. If the car is not getting to proper temperature, it will set a false code 13. Many Oxy sensors have been replaced because the engine was running below 190 degrees.
