88 Sedan Deville 4.5L intermittently starts, sometimes dies driving

My 88 Sedan Deville will start up fine sometimes and run great, sometimes even for a day or two. Then, it will decide not to start. It turns over fine, but won't fire. If I let it sit for awhile, sometimes only 30-40 minutes, it starts up and runs fine till it decides to act up again. Here lately it's started dying while driving, then it will start again. Help!

    Hello,

    had the same problems:

    http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums...-problems.html

Check your ground Cable at the negative Battery Pole. There´s an electric Connector which caused my Problems.

As You wrote in your other Post, you have the Code pulled "ECM Memory Reset", i gues you have a "ground" Problem.

    good luck !

Thanks for the advice, I'll check it out. My fuel center and climate controls work perfectly though. The main problem I'm having is with intermittent starting, and stopping while driving along. Today I had to go somewhere, and it stopped on my halfway to my destination, only to restart immediately and not give me any more problems. After I pulled the codes yesterday, I cleared them. When I got home today, I checked the codes and got E53 again, which is distributor signal fault(interrupted). So, I still don't know. I'll check the negative wires though. Thanks.

"I checked the codes and got E53 again, which is distributor signal fault(interrupted)"

Among the codes: is E12, or E.E.12 showing?
