    Question 4.9l Rpm

I recently switched out the engine in my '92 Eldo. The replacement engine runs at 2000 RPMs while accellerating at highway speeds. I seem to recall that the old engine ran at a lower RPM. Is it my imagination or is this okay?

Thanks for any info you can provide.

Did you swap the transnmission also? If so, the trans could have a different gear ratio.

If not, you need to make sure the lockup converter in the trans is functioning. There are some sensor error conditions that will prevent the converter from locking up.

"accelerating at highway speeds" can mean anything. I cannot imagine a real acceleration with RPM lower than 3000.
