93 Seville 4.9-Crank position sensor location?

I have 236000 miles and she's still running. I do most of my repairs myself. Recently, the car has been stalling, rough start up, and then just dying out. When it dies out, it comes back on in about 5 minutes, like it never cut off. I've changed my wires, cap, rotor, and control module. A friend told me to try the crank position sensor. So where is it? How many is there? Help, Anyone!

it's inside the distributor and requires removal of same to replace. Have you pulled the codes, if any? Have you checked out the coil?

The sensor is also known as Hall effect sensor.

During the stalling, rough starts and engine dying, confirm that fuel pressure is 40-50psi.

Its the cam sensor thats in the distributor not the crank sensor. But it can do the same sort of thing. Check the codes because they will say if its bad or not.

Actually they are both in the distributor on the 4X engines. The crank position sensor is more often called the pick-up coil with the cam position sensor also called the Hall effect switch as previously noted.

Talking Re: 93 Seville 4.9-Crank position sensor location?

Thanks everyone for the help. So i change the coil on top of the distributor and I thought i had cured the problem. It ran good without cutting off for about 3 or 4 days. Then it cut off, but started back up after turning it a few times. I've replaced everything in the ignition system accept the hall effect switch. Is there a way to tell if the switch is bad? How do you change it out?
