I keep Chilton in trank and Facrory Service Manual at home. Get an FSM on ebay for pennies, nothing can substitute that book.

I have the Haynes, Chilton, and two FSMs (second is the "body" FSM that has some extra info). The Haynes book is slightly better than the Chilton, but neither of them come anywhere close to the FSMs.

FSM is the best by far. Find one on eBay for the cost of a Hayne's manual or Chilton's.

you can temporarily look for one for a 1982-1985 eldorado. they're so cheap, you can get one for about $5 until you locate a 1983 book.

the eldorado was pretty much unchanged for all of these years (once the 4.1 was introduced in 1982).

This Poll should have included Cadillac Factory Service Manual (published by HELM)as it is the best reference manual for these cars bar none!

I have the chiltons, haynes and the Gm manual The haynes has better wiring info but for th HT4100 the GM manual is best.

The regular FSM has really good info about voltages and whatnot. However the body FSM has the best visual wiring info, with pictures and 3D breakouts and lots of other info. When I installed the automatic day/night mirror I used the body FSM for most of the info.

No substitute for the FSM. Better made than the HT4100 engine, that's for sure... lol

    Re: Haynes or Chiltons

Of course the FSM is the best. You can get these just as cheap on E-Bay as previously said.

I suppose if you where just planning on fixing small problems and keeping up the maintaince a Haynes or Chilton would do just fine. Personally flipping through them the Haynes manual has a little better layout in my opinion. Chilton has various information spread throughout in a hard to find again type format. At all the same prices I would go with the FSM if you can find one on the net used.
