OK, if you pour some gas in the throttle body will it start? Are you sure you have spark and PROPER fuel pressure (i.e. between 9 and 12 psi). If you do, here's what I'd check.

    1. Make sure MAP sensor hose is connected, and that the sensor is good.
    2. Check coolant temp. sensor connections.

The only sensors the ECM checks when the motor is cold are the MAP, coolant temp., and intake air temp. If the ECM is good, it has to be one of these sensors.

It's a 15mm on my early 85 FWD Deville (i.e. I have an 84 motor in my car). I'd assume it's the same on yours. The distributor gears do fail, but it's often because the cam gear has worn teeth, so you may need to replace the camshaft, too. Once coolant leaks into the oil undetected, it destroys the cam and cam gear on these cars. I had to replace my camshaft, and my car only had 37,000 miles! I had 6 flat lobes.

If the distributor does not rotate, its more than likely the timing chain, not the dist gear. I've seen the distributor gear excessively worn but never stripped.

pulled out the distributor and it was a 15mm after tearing up a 9/16, 5/8, and a 14mm but anyway pulled it out and found that the distributor gear is just fine and it seems that the cam gear isn't turning either going to check for compression one more time when i get a chance but thanks for all the help again and going to check on the cam gear being worn out

The compression test will confirm a failed timing chain.
