92 Deville losing power after turning a corner

I have a 92 Deville that runs fine most of the time. Perodically after turnign a street corner there is now power when trying to accelerate. Feathering the throttle for a few seconds will cause a backfire through the intake then the car takes off and runs fine.

It doesen't do this every time. It also doesn't seem to do it when the engines cold, only after it has been driven a few miles.

Anyone else experience this or have any ideas where to start looking for the problem?

If i have less than 6 gallons of gas in my tank, My 93 Deville will do that....As an example, Turning into an on ramp for the highway. Something to do with baffles in the fuel tank. I just keep more than 6 gals. gas in car. This may or may not be the same issue you are having. But maybe?

That could be, I just bought the car and this didn't happen until the fuel got to about that level. I was going to fill it today, hopefully that is the problem.

I had a 90 Deville with the 4.5 a few years ago, that one didn't have any problem when the fuel was low.

I'll post back after filling the tank and driving it a while.

    Baffles in the fuel tank.

The circumstance with my car is a right hand turn with a minor decline. Its the only time it will do it. Just on one ramp in my city. I know if i am low on gas, I will have to feather the pedal to get on the highway, Once straightened out, The 4.9 torque kicks in and in doing 70 without realizing it. So its been no big issue to me. hope thats your problem.

Re: 92 Deville losing power after turning a corner

I put in some gas and drove around for about 10 miles without a problem. That seems to have been the problem. I might have to look into a new tank, hate to lose about 100 miles of range before having to fill up.

Thanks for the replies. I'll update if that wasn't my problem, but it seems to be.
