NOISEY cold start ups with the pulleys, only to quiet down when warm.

I have noticed my belt system is quiet noisey on cold start ups only to quiet when warmed up. Its not a screeching noise of the belt but a bearning type noise. my water pump is not leaking, no difference with aircompressor turned on or off. Anybody experience anything similar? I cant imagine what would quite after warming up? Any ideas out there on what it could be or how to diagnosis the problem?

Had a similar issue, except that the noise did not go away at operating temperature.

It was difficult to exactly determine the source by sound. I took the belt off and looked for pulley wobble when tugging on each pulley. During my 1st inspection, even the pulley tug did not produce the root cause. I continued to drive it for several weeks until the bearing loosened up enough to show during the pulley tug test.

Btw...it turned out to be the water pump....oh, and no leaks either.

Piston slap. mine does the same in the winter time. GM suggested a replacement kit (redisigned pistons and cylinder linings). I think it is not worth replacing.
