    4.1 to 4.9.... RWD?

I am sure this is a dumb question that I already know the answer to, but I have to ask it anyway with a small ray of hope.

They began putting the HT4100 in the big RWD cars in 82 or 83.... then put it in the FWD cars. Is that the same engine?

What I'm wondering is if you can put a 4.9 in place of a RWD 4.1. I realize the 4.9 only came in FWDs.

I'm looking at an 83 coupe deville, and I'd like to get rid of the 4100 ASAP because it stinks... and the 4.9 I had in my 93 Sixty Special was a killer engine. I'm sure it would lug around the RWD coupe with no trouble, if it would in fact fit....

    Just curious...

No, they're not the same engine. However, someone out there makes an adaptor kit for the FWD 4.x engine to fit RWD, I just don't know who though.

I'm sure someone else will know and chime in.
