    Thanks for the muffler info

I was looking to replace the muffler on my '91 Sedan Deville with something that sounded a bit more powerful, but wouldn't sound out of place on a full sized Cadillac. Based on the threads in this forum, I ended up going with an OEM style dual outlet muffler from a Camaro, with the stock looking tailpipes
I love it! It has a nice rumble at idle, and growls pleasingly as I accelerate. It reminds me of my friends '87 IROC with the LB9 TPI engine, but a little quieter. I'm not sure how it sounds from the outside, exactly, but I do notice that I'm getting a lot more attention as I drive down the street.
I'm also not in as much of a hurry to fix my radio, either.
Again, thanks. This forum has helped me a lot since I bought my car.

I have a 91 Fleetwood and was thinking about doing exactly the same! What year did you use to get the right exhaust? And did you have to make a hanger for the drivers side? Thanks, Justin

Re: Thanks for the muffler info

I didn't do the work myself - I had a muffler shop here in Sacramento do it - but I believe that they used the muffler from an 88 - 92 Camaro RS V8, and it looks like they used a hanger that was in stock and mounted it on the driver's side. The one drawback to the muffler used was that it was larger than the OEM Cadillac muffler, and had to be mounted at an angle to clear the gas tank - therefore the muffler does hang down from the body a bit. The guys at the shop did paint the muffler black, and it only scrapes when I go over steep speed bumps, but I still may end up going with a different muffler somewhere down the road. So just a word of advice, JK - if you want a clean, factory look, measure the stock muffler and try to find a dual outlet muffler as close to that size as possible.

Im using Flowmaster 40 series mufflers on my 93 Seville. I have a dual muffler setup rather than the single muffler with dual outlets. It has a agressive tone on the interior and exterior of the car. Deep and smooth at cruse and a growl at wot, it is a real attention seeker. I plan on putting flowmasters on my Fleetwood and my Eldorado. Cadillacs all day everyday.
