My 85 Deville is running pretty well now (idle issues is nearly gone--so far I've eliminated 2 small vacuum leaks, so it's doing much better).
However, I'd like to adjust my TV cable to be just slightly less aggressive on shifts. Right now, it seems to shift just a tad bit too late. How do I do this? I see the button on the cable, but not sure of the correct adjustment procedure.
Figured it out...VERY easy procedure. Just push the spring-loaded button on the TV cable retainer and pull/push the cable on the throttle body end. You'll see a slider come out. Pull the slider out (towards the throttle body) to have your trans upshift earlier or push the slider in (away from the throttle body) to have it upshift later while holding down the spring-loaded button. Test drive and set to your own liking. Takes about 10 seconds total to do.

Re: 85 Deville TV Cable Adjustment
The factory method is to depress the silver plunger, then rotate throttle arm to wide open throttle (engine off!) The TV cable will extend to its correct length. I've adjusted mine like you did because I wanted it to shift a little later rather than early and soft. Keep in mind, adjusted too soft and you will lower the point where it downshifts when passing a car.
